About the Event

The Speculative Sundays Poetry Reading Series presents speculative poets reading their work live on Facebook Live via Zoom.

Wendy Low is the second reader poet of the new year on January 14, 2021 starting  at 7 pm EST.

Wendy Low‘s poems, stories and essays are published in  Breaking the Silence, Desperate Acts, HazMat Review, Napalm Health Spa, Rochester Woman, The Poet’s Walk, The Democrat and Chronicle, Words on Wheels, and elsewhere. Her plays and Spoken word poems have been performed through Writers & Books, Pyramid Arts Center, Geva New Play productions, and various spoken word venues. A teacher at heart, she has more than 30 years of experience in making creative writing enjoyable and important to beginning writers and helping writers on all levels improve their craft. Low edited hundreds of anthologies in her years as Director of Education at Writers & Books.

After an introduction and the reading, the audience is invited to ask questions. The event lasts about an hour.

Speculative poetry, the poetry of possibilities, includes alternate history, cryptids, monsters, cyberfunk, cyberpunk, dystopia, fairytales, fabulism, fantasy, folklore, futurism, horror, magic, mythology, occult, paranormal, robots, science fiction, shifters, slipstream, solar punk, space opera, superheroes, supernatural, sword and sorcery, sword and soul, steamfunk, steampunk, time-travel, post-apocalyptic, and weird. It takes all poetic forms plus scifaiku.
